Born to Run: The 30th Anniversarythink they'll be similar treatment for some of the other albums?
|
I'm guessing that from BTR forward most of the reissues should take
on the form that BTR did this year. That would make any Darkness
reissue an important event along the Bruce time line.

Wolf Parade: Apolgies to the Queen Mary
how would you sum up these cats?
|
A very inventive bunch of guys. Solid musicanship throughout, at
times reminded me of some of Dwight Twilly's stuff from the mid 70's.
An album that will grow in leaps in bounds with you if you return to
listen.

Texas: Red Bookwhat's this one like (as they can sometimes tryon different styles a bit-- more toward the earlyrockin, or more toward the motown tip?)
|
Perhaps a departure for this group, "Red Book" introduces elements of
a very slick production along with an emphasis on keyboards. All in
all a very enjoyable piece of work.

Bruce Springsteen: Devils and Dustdo you have a preference between this album or the ghost of tom joad, and what do you think of the production on D&D?
|
My order of preference would always be Nebraska followed by GOTJ. D&D
is not a great album but not a bad record as well. A few great tracks
that follow the tradtional path.

do you think this one required or deserved to be a double disc album,or do you think it could have perhaps been better as a single 80 minutedisc?
Charlie Sexton: Cruel and Gentle Things
did he write most of the songs, and how are they?
|
An excellent album and considering that Charlie, for the most part,
has been accompanying others, CaGT is a most welcome reflection from a
great artist. In my opinion his last offering 1995's "Under the
Wishing Tree" was one of the most underated and overlooked pieces of
work from 95.

Lucero: Dreaming In AmericaI know you don't really like to rate albums against each other, butI've been wanting to check this band out and was wondering if youthink this one stacks up nicely with the rest of their, and would itbe the one to start with.
|
A great band that brings to life the spirit of the Replacements and
many other bar bands that have sunk under the radar over the last 20
plus years. The one to start with would be "Tennessee" Their 2nd
record and a great one! If you want a contemporary perspective of what
it's like as a traveling non profit band on the road, the accompanying
DVD with Dreaming is over 90 min and features the work they did with
Jim Dickinson on this years "Nobody's Darlings".
I like these guys for the reality check they bring to the genre.
My all time preference of a group that works in this vein is Centro
Matic, the most underated group and unheard band in the land!
Amazingly rocking stuff!!

Constantines: Tournament of Heartsdo you have 2-3 favorites from this one? think I've got it lyingaround here somewhere. I read one reviewer make a connectionwith one song to the drama of "she's the one."
|
This one is still growing on me. Stand out tracks seem to be "Love in
Fear" "Working Full-Time".
There is a connection but it's not that pronounced in my opinion. A
good band who, given the time to mature, will produce an outstanding
piece of work that should bring them the attention.

I was suprised james mcmurtry's latest didn't make your list. I thinkthat's a really strong record.
|
I like McMurtry but have not really caught up since "Too Long in the
Wasteland" from 89.

My pleasure most assured in respoding to those who want more from
their listening experiences.
